John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2019-2020

The John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund is administered by the Schenectady County Bar Association. Established in 1980 by the Law Will and Testament of Elizabeth M. Alexander, widow of John Alexander, this fund was created to provide scholarships for Schenectady County residents. 

The conditions for this scholarship include:

• Must reside in Schenectady County
• Must be a full-time candidate for a Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law Degree at an accredited New York Law School

The income of the trust and the number of applicants determine the amount of the scholarship to be awarded to each recipient in a given year. As such, awards range by year. Last year, ten winners received $2,828.40 each.

Application must include:

• Notarized certificate of residency
• Evidence of good standing from accredited law school (transcript)
