John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • Touro is proud to announce the John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Schenectady County Bar Association!
  • The Fund was established in 1980 by the Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth M. Alexander, widow of John Alexander.
  • The Fund was created to provide scholarships for Schenectady County residents.
  • The conditions for receipt of the scholarship are that the applicant must reside in Schenectady County and must be a full time candidate for a Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law Degree at an accredited New York Law School.
  • The income of the trust and the number of applicants determines the amount of the scholarship to be awarded to each recipient in a given year.
  • As such, there is no set amount awarded for the scholarship from year to year.  Each recipient for the 2016-2017 academic year scholarship distribution was awarded $3,019.11.
  • Given the short notice, at this point, students are simply required to submit an informal application.
  • Deadline: Students may apply by email to cswelch@nycourts.gov with their name, address, and law school.  The deadline for applications will be December 19, 2017.
