Presented to a rising Forum member who has demonstrated a substantial commitment to the Forum by undertaking significant leadership efforts, such as mentoring other Forum members or law students interested in pursuing careers in franchise law; working on membership outreach; assisting with special projects; or helping with the Forum’s annual meeting. Designed for newcomers to the Forum who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in franchise law. Nominees will be asked to identify any activities that demonstrate their commitment, including prior attendance at franchise related conferences, contributions to the Forum, goals for future involvement and any recommendations for Forum governance. Construction Industry
2011 Law Student Writing Competition

Entry deadline: December 31, 2011
Prizes: $2,000 plus travel expenses and registration to attend the 2012 Forum on the Construction Industry Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV. Students may submit articles on any topic related to construction law. The format of the articles should resemble the articles published in either of the Forum's two publications, The Construction Lawyer (law journal format) and Under Construction (newsletter format with articles of 1000-2000 words). Business Law
Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest

Entry deadline: January 20, 2012
This competition is designed to encourage and reward law student writings on a business law subject. Awards include cash prizes of $500 to $2,500. Each of the first, second and third place winners will receive all expenses paid by the Section to attend the ABA Business Law Section Spring Meeting to collect his/her prize. Tell me more

New York Bar Foundation Trusts and Estates Law Section Fellowship

The New York Bar Foundation is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the 2012 Trusts and Estates Law Section FellowshipTwo fellowships, valued at $5,000 each, will take place in summer 2012 and are available to all 2L students enrolled in a law school in the State of New York during the 2011/2012 academic year. One fellowship will take place in the chambers of Hon. Peter J. Kelly, Queens County Surrogate’s Court, and one Fellowship will take place in the chambers of Hon. Ava S. Raphael, Onondaga County Surrogate’s Court.

Please note the deadline for submission of all application materials is January 31, 2012.
