Family Law Writing Competition

The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and Family Court Review are sponsoring their annual Family Law Writing Competition. The writing competition is a method through which the AFCC and Family Court Review recognize family law scholarship among law students. Family Court Review is the flagship family law journal at Hofstra Law School and is the official journal of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

Submission are being accepted through March 16, 2012.  Possible submission topics include:

International Adoption
Use of Mental Health Experts in Divorce
Domestic Violence in Same-Sex Partnerships,
Third Party Visitation Rights
Mediating in Child Protective Cases
Or, you may create your own!

Entries will be judged on the quality of legal analysis, originality, depth of research, timelines, creativity, and format. They must be no longer than 25 double spaced pages.

The First Prize winner will receive $500, a certificate of recognition, and consideration for publication of the article in the Family Court Review. Alternatively the winner may choose to receive complimentary conference registration for AFCC’s 49th Annual Conference on June 6 – 9, 2011 in Chicago Illinois. Honorable mentions also receive awards.
