Baker Donelson will again award three scholarships to diverse law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2015. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2016 in one of our Firm’s offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000 which will be paid prior to the student's third year of law school to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

2015 Mike Eidson Scholarship
The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women for Justice Education Fund in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it. The scholarship, traditionally in the amount of $5,000, is awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs’ lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.
In order to be awarded this scholarship, you must be present at our Annual Convention on July 12, 2015 in Montreal, Canada. Your travel and accommodations will be paid for as part of the award, but please note that all international travel requires a passport.

The National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees has established an annual student writing
competition to encourage and reward original law student writing on issues concerning consumer

The Borchard Fellowship in Law & Aging affords three law school graduates interested in a professional career in law and aging. The fellowship period runs from July 1 to June 30 each year, or for the calendar year beginning the month after the fellow’s completion of a state bar examination.
The fellowship is $45,000 and is intended as a full-time position only.Fellows may live and work where they choose in the United States. Fellows must be either U.S. citizens or legal residents of the U.S.
The Application Process: Applications are due on April 15, 2015. Applicants must submit a completed online application including an information form, an explanation of the applicant’s planned activities and projects, a current curriculum vitae, a law school transcript, a letter of support from the proposed supervisor, and two other letters of support. 2015 Selma Moidel Smith Law student writing competition
The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL)® is a national voluntary legal professional organization whose mission is the advancement of women in the legal profession and women’s rights. NAWL has established the annual Selma Moidel Smith Law Student Writing Competition to encourage and reward original law student writing on issues concerning women and the law. The rules for the competition are as follows:
FORMAT: Essays must be double-spaced in 12-point, Times New Roman font. All margins must be one inch. Entries must not exceed fifteen (15) pages of text, excluding notes, with footnotes placed as endnotes. Citation style should conform to The Bluebook – A Uniform System of Citation. Essays longer than 15 pages of text, excluding notes, or which are not in the required format may not be read.

SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE: Entries must be received by May 1, 2015. Entries received after the deadline will be considered only at the discretion of NAWL. Entries must provide a cover letter providing the title of your essay, school affiliation, email address, phone number, and mailing address. Entries must be submitted in the following format: email an electronic version (in Microsoft Word) to jmartin@stu.edu.
AWARD: The author of the winning essay will receive a cash prize of $500. NAWL will also publish the winning essay in the NAWL Women Lawyers Journal.
Chief Justice John B. Doolin Writing Competition
What? The
Supreme Court of Oklahoma and the Sovereignty Symposium, Inc. are sponsoring a writing competition open to
all students enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States, its
territories or Canada.
Topic? The
subject matter of the paper may be on any area of the law relating to Native
Americans or other indigenous peoples.
Prize? First, second,
and third prizes in the amounts of $750.00; $500.00; and $250.00 will be awarded.
Deadline? Entries
must be received no later
than April 15, 2015.
