LawHelp/NY is a website designed to assist low-income New Yorkers solve their legal problems. LiveHelp is an online, real-time chat service where volunteers direct users towards relevant self-help materials, legal assistance organizations and court information. LiveHelp volunteers provide a simple, straightforward opportunity to help people in crisis. Through this project you can  assist low income New Yorkers find legal information and a referral to a legal services organization. Engage in simultaneous live chat in English and Spanish with visitors to the LawHelp/NY website.

For the past 5 years Touro Law students have been volunteering to be a part of this project that only requires you to be on-line for a few hours a week. This means you can do this pro bono project from home or school or anywhere you are connected to the internet!! Students do not give legal advice but offer helpful information. This is an excellent way to learn about how the New York legal system operates and at the same time help people.  Please contact Tom Maligno with any questions at thomasm@tourolaw.edu or (631) 761-7033.
