SENATOR LAVALLE SPONSORS LOW-COST MAMMOGRAPHY SCREENINGS FOR UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED - Written Referrals and Appointments Necessary

Senator Kenneth P. LaValle has made arrangements with the Suffolk County Department of Health Mobile Mammography Program to provide low-cost mammography screenings for uninsured/underinsured women, age 40 and over. The screenings will be available at Senator's Family Day, Saturday, October 24, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Mobile Mammography Van is a Community Outreach Program that will be on site in the parking lot in front of the Brookhaven Gymnasium at Suffolk County Community College in Selden. Those wishing to take advantage of this low cost screening must make an appointment and obtain a written referral from their primary care provider. To schedule an appointment, please call Senator LaValle's office at 631-696-6900.

"Early detection screenings help save lives by diagnosing cancers in their most curable stages," said Senator LaValle. "A mammogram is the best early detection tool we have in the fight against breast cancer. Routine mammograms not only provide peace of mind—they can, and do, save lives. I urge women to take advantage of this life-saving screening."
