Business Law Section Mendes Hershman Writing Contest
Entry deadline: January 9
Award: $2,500. Law Student Division members are encouraged to submit papers on a high quality business law topic written in the current or previous academic year, and approved for submission by a professor or law school dean.

Construction Law Writing Competition
Entry deadline: January 15
Award: $2,000; transportation and accommodations to attend the forum's 2015 Annual Meeting (April 16-18) in Boca Raton, Florida; a plaque; one-year membership in the forum; recognition in the forum's newsletter, Under Construction and on the website; and possible publication in one of the forum's two publications, Under Construction or The Construction Lawyer.

Antitrust Law Student Writing Competition
Entry deadline: January 30
Award: $2,500; transportation and accommodation to attend the Antitrust Section's Spring Meeting (April 15-17, 2015) in Washington, DC. Designed to encourage and reward student-written articles in the area of antitrust law, competition policy, and consumer protection law. Articles must also be nominated by the publication’s Editor-in-Chief. Each Editor-in-Chief may only nominate one article.

Ed Mendrzycki Essay Contest for Law Students and Young Lawyers
Standing Committee on Lawyers' Professional Liability and Long & Levit LLP
Entry deadline: February 20
Award: $5,000 cash prize and transportation and accommodations to attend the 2015 National Legal Malpractice Conference (April 8–10, 2015) in Washington, DC. Encourages innovative and original research and writing on issues in lawyers’ professional liability. Open only to law student and young lawyer members of the American Bar Association.

2015 Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Writing Competition
Entry deadline: March 6
Award: $1,000; transportation and accommodates to attend the Forum's Annual Conference (May 20-22, 2015), in Washington, DC; possible publication in the Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development Law. Section of Family Law Howard C. Schwab Memorial Essay Contest
Entry deadline: April 17
Award: Monetary prize, certificate of recognition, consideration of essay’s publication in Family Law Quarterly and on the Section website, letter to law school dean regarding your achievement, and one year complimentary membership to the Section. Designed to increase interest in the field of family law among all law students. You must be an ABA Law Student Division member to be considered.

2015 Elliot A. Spoon Business Law Writing Competition

The Michigan State University College of Law Journal of Business & Securities Law announces the release of the 2015 Elliot A. Spoon Business Law Writing Competition.

ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund for Incoming Students

The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school.  During his term as ABA President, William G. Paul initiated the scholarship to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to apply to and attend law school.

Baumgartner Law Firm Scholarship

The Baumgartner Law Firm offers a scholarship for current or incoming law students based on need and commitment to helping others. One student will receive a $3,000 scholarship.  

Criteria: Applicants must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited Law School in the US, (persons who have applied to law school but have not yet been accepted may apply, however, the scholarship will only be awarded to someone enrolled in an accredited school at the time of scholarship selection).   

Deadline to apply: August 31, 2015.

2015 1L SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Prudential Financial, Inc.

The American Bar Association’s (ABA) Commission on Disability Rights is pleased to partner with Prudential Financial, Inc. (Prudential) to provide a meaningful summer internship opportunity for a highly motivated, first-year law student with a disability. The Commission will select a law student with a disability to join the 2015 summer law intern program at Prudential’s New Jersey/New York offices. The 1L summer internship will run 10 weeks—from May 26 to August 7, 2015. Interns will be paid a stipend of approximately $10,000, which shall accrue and be paid on an hourly basis.
