Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest

The Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest is a highly regarded legal writing competition that encourages and rewards law students for their outstanding writing on business law topics. Entries to the contest may be submitted by current JD students.

The contest winner is awarded $1,000 and their entry will be considered for publication in The Business Lawyer. The deadline to submit an essay is February 15, 2020.

ABA Business Law Section Diversity Clerkship

The ABA Business Law Section Diversity Clerkship is a summer program that provides business law clerkship placements for qualified diverse second year law students. Participating clerks receive support and mentoring in the business law field and exposure to business practices. Roles and responsibilities of selected participants include but are not limited to researching cases, drafting memoranda and opinions, observing trials, and networking with local attorneys and judges. 

Participants receive a $3,000 stipend to offset participation costs. Applications are due January 8, 2020. To view qualifications and application requirements, visit ambar.org/blclerkship

2020 Antitrust Section Law Student Fellowship


Antitrust Section Law Student Fellowship

The Fellowship will be awarded to up to four current first (1L) or second (2L) year law students to work on antitrust and related matters in the public and private sector in the State of New York during the Summer of 2020.

The Hon. Judith S. Kaye Children and the Law Committee Scholarship

The New York Bar Foundation is pleased to announce applications are being accepted for the Honorable Judith S. Kaye Children and the Law Committee Scholarship.

The scholarship, valued up to $2,500, will be awarded to three (3) – five (5) students enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis during the 2019-2020 academic year in an accredited undergraduate or post high school certificate program.   The scholarship opportunity is available to students who will age out or have aged out of foster care with a permanency goal of Another Planned Permanent Living Arrangement (APPLA) and are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or post high school certificate program during the 2019-2020 academic year. Students must demonstrate a school-related financial need beyond tuition that is not being met by other sources

Honorable Peggy Bernheim & Craig Lensch Memorial Scholarship - 2 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORUNITIES

The Bronx County Bar Association is proud to announce that for the academic year
commencing September 2019, we will again award the Honorable Peggy Bernheim
Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $6,000 and the Craig Lensch Memorial
Scholarship in the amount of $6,000.

These scholarships are available to eligible, deserving first and second year law
students, or third year law students expecting to graduate in May or June 2020 who are
domiciled in Bronx County. The scholarships will be presented at our Annual Dinner on
Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the Marina del Rey. Recipients MUST attend the Dinner
to receive their award.

Completed applications, with official transcripts, must be received no later than February 4, 2020.

The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County Inc. is proud to announce that three, Three Thousand Dollar ($3,000.00) financial need-based scholarship will be awarded

Applicants must be a full-time law student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; a practicing Roman Catholic; and a member of a Roman Catholic Parish. In addition to one of the following criteria

aBe a resident of Queens County, New York; or 
b) If not a resident of Queens County, New York, the law school that you are attending must be in Queens County, New York
AND 
c) Be available to attend our Communion Breakfast on December 22, 2019 to receive scholarship, if you are a successful applicant

2020 HOWARD C. SCHWAB MEMORIAL ESSAY CONTEST

Each year, the American Bar Association Section of Family Law conducts an essay contest to encourage law students to think about current issues in family law and to encourage participation in the Section of Family Law. Students may write on any aspect of family law.

Eligibility: second & third-year full-time J.D. students (and second through fourth-year part-time
J.D. students) of all ABA-approved law schools, and first year J.D. students where family law is taught as part of the first-year curriculum.

Winning entries receive the following: Monetary prize, certificate of recognition, consideration of essay’s publication in Family Law Quarterly and on the Section website, and letter to law school dean regarding the achievement.

Deadline: Entry form by April 10, 2020. Essays due April 24, 2020.
