2015 NYC Bar Law Preview Scholarship Program for Incoming Law Students

Attention Admitted Students: You're invited to apply to the New York City Bar Law Preview Scholarship: Scholarship recipients receive more than 45 hours of instruction from top law professors and attorneys who provide comprehensive previews of core first-year classes, as well as workshops that teach academic strategies and exam-taking techniques. Scholarship recipients also receive free academic support resources and study aids throughout law school from BARBRI, are matched with an attorney mentor through the PALS Program and become law student members of the New York City Bar Association.

New York State Bar Association Committee on Animals and the Law Student Writing Competition




The Committee on Animals and the Law of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is very pleased to announce the Seventh Annual Student Writing Competition.   
 
Law students are invited to submit to the Committee an article concerning any area of Animal Law. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of attorneys and other professionals practicing or otherwise involved in animal law. 

The first place winner will receive $1,000 and a certificate of achievement. The second place winner will receive $500 and a certificate of achievement. 

The deadline for submission is July 31, 2015.

Ed Edmondson Scholarship

WHEN?           The Oklahoma Supreme Court and the Sovereignty Symposium, Inc. will host Sovereignty Symposium XXVIII on June 3 and 4, 2015, at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Symposium registration scholarships will be offered in Congressman Edmondson’s name as the Symposium’s thank you for his support and efforts during its founding.  

HOW?               Applicants should demonstrate an interest in and dedication to Native American law issues and the need for a scholarship in a simple letter of application.  There is no formal application form.

:  Discuss any aspect of energy law. Submissions may advocate a position, educate the reader, or analyze one or more cases.

Public Land and Resources
Theme
: Papers should demonstrate original thought on a question of legal and/or policy significance relating to the topic of the role of public lands and policy.  The topic is not confined to any particular type of public lands or issue. Essays should conform to the theme of the competition. Submissions may advocate a position, educate the reader, or analyze one or more cases.

AMERICAN COLLEGE OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS COUNSEL LAW STUDENT WRITING PRIZE

The subject must relate to any topic in the field of employee benefits law. This competition is open to any J.D. and graduate law students enrolled at any time between August 14, 2014 and August 15, 2015.

Winners will be honored during the College’s annual black tie dinner on September 19, 2015 in Chicago, IL. They will receive a plaque and an employee benefits treatise published by Bloomberg BNA Books. If deemed suitable by the editors, one or more of the winning papers will be published by the Bloomberg BNA Pension and Benefits Reporter, the Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Compensation Planning Journal or another employee benefits publication. The winning papers will also be distributed to the Fellows of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, experienced attorneys who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the employee benefits field in a wide range of practice settings including law and consulting firms, universities, labor unions, advocacy organizations and government agencies throughout the United States.
