2018 NYBF/NYSBA Antitrust Diversity Fellowship

  • Touro Law is pleased to formally announce the 2018 Antitrust Section Law Student Fellowship. 
  • The fellowship will be awarded to up to four current first or second year law students (class year determined as of the Fall 2017 semester). 
  • Each selected student will be provided a fellowship in the amount of $6,000 for 10 weeks of full-time work over summer 2018 at one of three New York-based government agencies:
    • New York Attorney General, Antitrust Bureau; Federal Trade Commission, Northeast Region; or Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, New York Office. 
  • Deadline: All applications and materials must be submitted by mail with a postmark on or before January 12, 2018.

John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund 
  • Touro is proud to announce the John Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Schenectady County Bar Association!
  • The Fund was established in 1980 by the Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth M. Alexander, widow of John Alexander. 
  • The Fund was created to provide scholarships for Schenectady County residents. 
  • The conditions for receipt of the scholarship are that the applicant must reside in Schenectady County and must be a full time candidate for a Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law Degree at an accredited New York Law School. 
  • The income of the trust and the number of applicants determines the amount of the scholarship to be awarded to each recipient in a given year. 
  • As such, there is no set amount awarded for the scholarship from year to year.  Each recipient for the 2016-2017 academic year scholarship distribution was awarded $3,019.11. 
  • Given the short notice, at this point, students are simply required to submit an informal application. 
  • Deadline: Students may apply by email to cswelch@nycourts.gov with their name, address, and law school.  The deadline for applications will be December 19, 2017.

NEAL DAVIS LAW $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP
  • Neal Davis Law is thrilled to announce the 2nd offering of a $1,000 biannual scholarship opportunity! 
  • Students must simply submit a 500-750 word essay addressing the question: "Do mandatory minimum sentences make the U.S. safer or more dangerous?"

REMINDER- DEADLINE APPROACHING (12/4/17) for the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County, $3,000 financial need-based scholarship!
- To be eligible to apply for a Catholic Lawyers Guild of Queens County Inc. scholarship, applicants must be:
1. Full-time law student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
2. A practicing Roman Catholic; and 
3. A member of a Roman Catholic Parish. 
○ In addition to one of the following criteria: 
A. Be a resident of Queens County, New York; or
B. If not a resident of Queens County, New York, the law school that you are attending must be in Queens County, New York; or 
C. Be available to attend our Communion Breakfast on December 17, 2017 to receive Scholarship if you are a successful Applicant.
○ DEADLINE: Complete the Scholarship Application- HEREalong with required and return it to the following address with a postmark date no later than December 4, 2017:

2018 Environmental Awareness Scholarship
- We are excited to announce the details of the 2018 Environmental Awareness Scholarship Essay contest as part of the Air Duct Cleaning Denver scholarship program. 1st Place essay will be awarded $1,000 and a 2nd Place essay will be awarded $250.
- The Environmental Awareness Scholarship program was created to promote understanding of common sense steps that the average person can take to reduce their impact on our environment.
- The 2018 Environmental Essay Topics is:
- Part 1:  If you could suggest one simple thing that anyone could do to reduce their impact on our environment, what would that be?
- Part 2: Explain how following your suggestion would benefit our environment.
- Entry Deadline: To submit the environmental essay is March 1, 2018.
- Scholarship Prizes Awarded: On Monday, March 19th. Award checks will be mailed directly to the Financial Aid office with the student’s name and Student ID # attached.

$10,000 Intellectual Property Scholarship 
- The Richard Linn American Inn of Court is proud to offer the Mark T. Banner Scholarship. 
- This scholarship is part of The Richard Linn American Inn of Court's commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers of high ethics, civility and professionalism, and especially those from diverse backgrounds. 
- The recipient of the scholarship will receive $10,000 to be applied to your legal education at Touro! 
- Requirements: This scholarship is available to law students who have entered into a JD program at an ABA-accredited law school in the United States and who will continue in that program through at least the Fall semester 2018. 
- Scholarship recipients are selected by the Mark T. Banner Scholarship review board based on the following criteria:
○ Commitment to the pursuit of a career in intellectual property law.
○ Commitment, qualities and actions toward ethics, civility and professionalism.
○ Academic merit (undergraduate, graduate and law school).
○ Written and oral communication skills.
○ Leadership qualities and community involvement.
○ Member of a historically underrepresented group in IP law (including race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability).
