Honorable Charles L. Brieant, Jr. Fellowship

A fellowship was established at the behest of Judge Brieant's law clerks and judicial interns to honor his dedication to public service and to the federal courts to fund a summer internship position with the Court.  

The fellowship provides a $5,000 tuition credit directly to the law school of the student selected to serve as the Honorable Charles L. Brieant, Jr. Intern to the Court during the summer of 2015.  Both first-year and second-year law students are encouraged to apply.

National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees Annual Law Student Writing Competition

The National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees has established an annual student writing competition to encourage and reward original law student writing on issues concerning consumer bankruptcy and the law.

TOPIC: Entrants should submit an essay, article, or comment on an issue concerning Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code.

ELIGIBILITY: Essays will be accepted from students enrolled at any law school during the 2014-2015 school year. The essays must be the law student author’s own work and must not have been submitted for publication elsewhere.

FORMAT: Essays must be typed on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper, double-spaced in 12-point font, and Times New Roman font type. All margins must be at least one inch. Entries must not exceed fifteen (15) total pages of text, including notes, with footnotes placed as endnotes.

Citation style should conform to the most recent edition of The Bluebook - A Uniform System of Citation. Essays longer than 15 pages of text.

 JUDGING: The NACTT will judge the competition. Essays will be judged based upon content, exhaustiveness of research, originality, writing style, and timeliness.

SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE: Entries must be received by April 30, 2015. Entries may be submitted via email an electronic version (in Microsoft Word or PDF format) to Trustee@Ch13austin.com. 

AWARD: The author of the first-place essay will receive a $1000.00 cash prize. The winning essay will be published in the NACTT Quarterly. The winner will also receive free registration and a room for the NACTT annual seminar to be held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah from July 1 - 4, 2015.

The 2015-2016 Borchard Fellowship in Law & Aging

The Borchard Fellowship in Law & Aging affords three law school graduates interested in a professional career in law and aging. The fellowship period runs from July 1 to June 30 each year, or for the calendar year beginning the month after the fellow’s completion of a state bar examination. 

The fellowship is $45,000 and is intended as a full-time position only.Fellows may live and work where they choose in the United States. Fellows must be either U.S. citizens or legal residents of the U.S.

The Application Process: Applications are due on April 15, 2015. Applicants must submit a completed online application including an information form, an explanation of the applicant’s planned activities and projects, a current curriculum vitae, a law school transcript, a letter of support from the proposed supervisor, and two other letters of support.  All fellowship application information and the required online application are available at http://www.borchardcla.org/fellowship-program.

The Commercial and Federal Litigation Section Fellowship

DEADLINE for submission is 02/27/2015

The fellowship is valued at $6,000 and will take place in summer 2015.  

The fellowship is available to all 1L students currently enrolled in a law school in the State of New York. 

The fellowship will take place in New York City in the Chambers of Justice Saliann Scarpulla, Justice of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, New York, New York County, 60 Centre Street, New York.

Gregory Harmon, Esq. 2015 Scholarship Contest

The Black Bar Association of Bronx County announces the Gregory Harmon, Esq. 2015 Scholarship contest.

Who can apply?
Second and Third Year Law Students, enrolled full-time or part-time, are invited to apply for this Scholarship Award. 

Topic: The students must submit a resume, a one paragraph statement addressing what area of law they are interested in, and a three page essay discussing the following:
  • Are Grand Juries truly independent? What changes would you propose to protect the independence/integrity of the Grand Jury? How and why would these changes be beneficial?
Each Finalist will be required to complete either a phone or in-person interview with the Scholarship Committee. 


Prize : One winner will receive $2000 cash award or $2000 value towards Bar review course.

Diversity Summer Fellowship in Health Law

Who? 
The New York Bar Foundation is pleased to announce the 2015 Diversity Summer Fellowship in Health Law which has been established by The Foundation through a gift from the Health Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. 

Award?
The $5,000.00 Fellowship will be awarded to law students who are currently enrolled in law schools in the State of New York to work in Health law positions in the public sector in the State of New York during the summer of 2015. The Diversity Summer Fellowship in Health Law plans to place two Diversity law students in an 8-week summer Fellowship with a healthcare attorney or facility.

ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund for Incoming Students

The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial assistance over the course of their three years in law school. During his term as ABA President, William G. Paul initiated the scholarship to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to apply to and attend law school.

The deadline to apply is March 2, 2015.
