Arnold & Porter Diversity Scholarship

PRIZE?


The firm will award $10,000 scholarships to highly qualified first- year students. Each scholarship will be paid to the recipient's law school to help finance his or her tuition costs during the second academic year. 

QUALIFICATIONS?

Qualified applicants are currently- enrolled first- year law students at an ABA- accredited law school who (a) contribute to the diverse background of their law school's student body; (b) demonstrate strong academic achievement; and (c) demonstrate an interest in promoting diversity in the legal profession.

HOW TO APPLY?

Please submit a resume, official law school transcript and a personal statement that describes your personal background and the importance of diversity in your life and the legal profession. An applicant also may submit a separate statement demonstrating the financial need of a scholarship to help finance his or her law school education, but such statement is not required.

JOURNAL OF RACE, GENDER AND ETHNICITY SYMPOSIUM 2015 UNIFIED WRITING COMPETITION

The Touro Journal of Race, Gender and Ethnicity will be hosting a scholarship event this spring dedicated to writings related to current issues of race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.  

ELIGIBILITY



All Touro students, staff and alumni are eligible to participate in the JRGE Spring Symposium Unified Writing Competition (UWC). 

COMPETITION


Each competitor may submit up to two, but no more than two Articles, Notes, or Comments pertaining to Race, Gender, Ethnicity, or Sexual Orientation. The writing must be original work that has not previously been published, be typed in 12 point font, with 1 inch margins and be no longer than 30 pages, inclusive of footnotes. 

SUBMISSIONS



JRGE will review the submissions and begin to make offers to participants no later than Monday, March 23, 2015. Please be advised that offers are given on a rolling basis, and will continue throughout the week. No more than 8 student papers will be selected for publication and participation in the Symposium. Once a participant opts to be published with the Journal, he or she should decide whether he or she will present at JRGE’s annual symposium. If so, preparation must commence upon notice of selection. All offers will be concluded by Saturday, March 28th

You love the law, but your friends think it’s boring. Smith- Doheny Legal Ethics Writing Competition

Notre Dame Law School sponsors an annual writing competition on the topic of legal ethics.
All students with an interest in legal ethics are invited and encouraged to participate.

TOPIC: Entries should concern any issue within the general category of legal ethics. The essays that are submitted will be judged on their clarity, creativity, insight, and mastery of the rules and cases relevant to the topic of the essay in question.

AWARD: A prize of $2,500 will be awarded for one winning entry.

DEADLINE: All entries must be received before 5 p.m., April 24, 2015.

Judge Bernard S. Meyer Scholarship

The scholarship is valued at $5,000 and will be awarded to one (1) student.

Established in 2004 by the law firm, Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., the scholarship will be awarded to a law school student who excels in legal writing and advocacy skills.  

An essay that displays excellence in legal writing and advocacy skills must be submitted for consideration of this scholarship.

United Nations Academic Impact Student Essay Contest

The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), in collaboration with ELS Educational Services, Inc., (ELS) invites students, 18 years and older, who are enrolled in a full-time course of study at a college or university, to participate in an essay contest through the Many Languages, One World program (“Many Languages,” available at ManyLanguagesOneWorld.ELS.edu).

The essay should relate to the post-2015 global development agenda, in the context of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, and the definition of new goals reflecting the imperative of global sustainable development that recognizes, and is enriched by, cultural and linguistic diversity.
