The Community Foundation of Dutchess County in conjunction with the Dutchess County Bar Association is pleased to offer the Joseph H. Gellert, Dutchess County Bar Association Scholarship.

Created by the law firm of Gellert & Klein, P.C. in honor of its founder, The Honorable Joseph H. Gellert, and supplemented by members of the community, the Joseph H. Gellert, Dutchess County Bar Association Scholarship funds an annual scholarship (awarded through the Dutchess County Bar Association) to a resident of Dutchess County (click on the picture below to view a zip code list to identify if you are eligible) who is matriculated in an accredited law school. The student must have completed at least one year of law school to apply.

Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2011.

2011 NEW YORK CITY BAR DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

In 1991, the Committee on Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers (the "Committee") established a program of summer clerkships for first-year students to address the under-representation of minority lawyers in law firms and corporate law departments. The New York City Bar Diversity Fellowship Program (the "Fellowship Program" or "Program") is available to all underrepresented populations in the field of law. The goal of the Fellowship Program is to offer first-year students from underrepresented populations a unique summer employment opportunity in outstanding law firms and corporate law departments. The Committee accordingly invites all eleven New York City area law schools to participate in the Fellowship Program.

There will be an informational program about the application process on Monday, November 22 from 12:30-1:30 (Room 308) and repeated again from 5:30-6:30 (Room 310). National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) Essay Competition

In keeping with its goal to promote diversity within the criminal defense bar, NACDL invites law students from accredited law schools in the United States to submit essays for a chance to be published in The Champion magazine.

There will be one first prize winner, one second prize winner, and one honorable mention.
