THE HOGAN/SMOGER ACCESS TO JUSTICE ESSAY CONTEST offers law students an opportunity to receive reward and recognition for expounding on whether and how the courts can be used to obtain justice.
The topic for the 2011 contest is "The Gulf Oil Spill: Who Are the Victims and How Do They Get Compensated?"
The author of the winning essay will receive a $5,000 cash prize; recognition in the Public Justice newsletter and on the website; publication of the essay in the Vermont Law School’s online Journal of Environmental Law; and a free Public Justice Foundation membership for the Contest Year.
Any student currently enrolled in an accredited American law school may enroll in the contest. Each entry must be submitted through a faculty adviser.
All entrants must submit an INTENT TO ENTER FORM by January 31, 2011. The deadline for the essay is March 31, 2011. A panel of nationally renowned trial lawyers and law professors will judge the entries.

The New York Bar Foundation is pleased to announce the 20 11 Commercial and Federal Litigation Section Minority Fellowship. The fellowship is valued at $6,000 and will take place in summer 2011.
The fellowship is available to all 1L minority students currently enrolled in a law school in the State of New York. The fellowship will take place in New York City in the Chambers of Honorable Barbara R. Kapnick, Justice of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, New York County.

I am pleased to announce that the Charles H. Revson Foundation will continue to offer the Law Students Public Interest (LSPIN) Fellowship Program for the summer of 2011.
The LSPIN Fellowship Program will provide grants for first- and second-year law students attending law school in New York and New Jersey to work with public interest organizations in the New York metropolitan area for ten weeks during the summer. Last year, 101 law students were awarded stipends in the amount of $4500 through the Program. In fact, 3L Andrew Bernstein, a recipient of the fellowship last summer, was profiled in The National Jurist magazine in September.
This is an important source of summer funding. You do not need to have a summer job at the time of the application. We very much encourage you to apply.

Please read them carefully because they must be followed exactly. The application is not difficult but it must be accurate. The Applicant Datasheet is a required part of the application process.
