Please remember to pick up your Exam ID Number in the Registrar's Office.  You will need this number to register to take your midterm and final exams on your laptop.  Reminder - the deadline to register to take exams on your laptop is September 21.

Upper Division Student-Alumni Mentor Program

The Upper Division Student-Alumni Mentor Program begins this fall and is designed to pair second-, third- and fourth-year students with alumni in practice areas and employment settings that are of interest to them.

Applications are available in the Career Services, Student Services, Registrar, and Alumni Offices as well as on the program information sign, located in the hallway leading to the cafeteria, on the first floor. Continuing Orientation Handouts

If you need an additional copy of the Continuing Orientation handout from last night, please register for the Office of Student Services TWEN page.  Any Continuing Orientation handouts will be available for download under the heading Continuing Orientation Handouts.  If you need to see the recording of a continuing orientation session, please contact Dean Lauren Chite or Dean Tracy McGaugh.

First year students are responsible for the content of all sessions, whether or not written materials are available.

Looking for Winter Session Courses?

This A.B.A.-approved study abroad program in Curacao runs from December 18, 2009, to January 9, 2010. Students benefit from being taught by three experts in their fields, while receiving four academic credits. Last year, the program attracted dozens of students from across the country. Below are the course descriptions for this year's program. Each course is two credits.


· The Law of Humanity and the Law of Nations (required course)
The purpose of this course is to consider the foundations of international law and of global justice, with special emphasis on the sources and evidence of law, and when and why international standards should limit or control the national law and policies of independent governments or states. This course will be taught by Mortimer Sellers, Regents Professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law.


· Comparative Refugee and Asylum Law
Throughout this century, millions of refugees have been forced to flee their homes to escape persecution, war, and other threats, and the world has been forced to respond to these crises. This course will look at the international development of modern refugee law. This course will be taught by Lauris Wren, Clinical Professor of Law at Hofstra Law School.


· Introduction to the Economic Law of the European Union for Non EU Lawyers
Institutional structure and legal principles governing the EU and details of free movement of goods, services and capital will be discussed in this course. It also examines the most important aspects of EU economic law which are relevant for non-EU lawyers, as well as for non-EU companies and nationals. This course will be taught by Dr. Flora Goudappel, Associate Professor of European Union Law at Erasmus School of Law.

Continuing Orientation Session Tonight, 5:30-6:30

There will be a Continuing Orientation session for all first year students (and any upper-level students who would like this information) conducted by the registrar, Paula Kutch. In this session, you'll learn how to get exam numbers, how to check your grades, and things you need to start thinking about now so the registrar doesn't have difficulty certifying you to sit for the bar exam at the end of your final year.
